So I got my copy of the board game Super Dungeon Explore in yesterday, and set about assembling the multitude of heroes and monsters in the game. It seems to be a pretty basic dungeon crawler game, so my gaming group opted to sell Descent: Journeys in the Dark and replace it with this. The game includes 1 dragon boss, 2 ogre mini bosses, 6 dragonlings, 20 kobolds and five spawn points in addition to the 9 heroes as far as miniatures go. With Descent, most of the figures were ready out of the box, but here some of the kobolds have six pieces each. I was impressed with the level of detail and dynamic sculpts they could do with the game’s chibi styling using small cast components, but if someone just got this game thinking they could jump right in, they’d be in for a shock to discover four bags worth of extremely tiny un-assembled pieces. The dragon boss was a chore to get together as some of the parts didn’t line up until I took a hair dryer to it to loosen up the plastic. A fast grabbing superglue is a must for this task. I was a bit upset to discover that the bag with the hero parts was missing one of the barbarian girl’s arms. I have since contacted Soda Pop miniatures about replacing this for me, and so far I’ve not heard back from them, so I’ll post on here later how well their customer service is. Anyway, here’s all the pieces from the game assembled. I’m going to try and tackle getting at least the heroes and bosses painted over the weekend.
